  • Afermarket Headunit

Hi guys, just about to fit my Alpine headunit in the DS3, but I need a hand choosing the right wiring. Also does anyone know where to get the wiring for the steering wheel controls?

Hey Alix. Im about to change my RD4 head unit also for an after market Alpine. Not sure that wiring you are looking at is the correct one you will need. Do you have the Hi-Fi pack with your car?

If you do you will probably need this

    http://www.connects2.co.uk/c2search....=206&modID=817

Im waiting for Connects2 to get back to me on Monday to confirm that it is the adaptor required. This will allow you to maintain the stalk controls plus the reverse sensors.

If you dont have the reverse sensors then you may only need this

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Alpine-CITROEN...item3ef988cf4f

Your also gonna need a patch lead for the head unit you use so make sure if you do buy the coonnects2 adaptor, you purchase the correct patch lead.

You will lose control of the USB if you replace the standard headunit.

Your also going to need a Fakra to normal Aerial connection for the radio.

Hope all this helps. Ive been reseaching for the past week to make sure i get the correct stuff.

By the way, which Alpine head unit you going for? Ive purchased this one

    Thanks

              plus the radio lead.

What about your Bluetooth? Won't you loose that too?

As he says that he doesn't have the HiFi I assume that he doesn't have the Bluetooth or the USB option as they come with the Connect Signature pack, and the Alpine unit he say that he has is equiped for USB and also claims to be Bluetooth ready.

Yeah that's right John. I'll update once it is installed and take a pic. Just got to figure out how to get the microphone attachment wired in

Preferably just above the driver door

Not too difficult to do..the plastic cover on the A pillar comes off quite easily and there is a way though from the radio head unit across under the steering column and up behind the dash to the A pillar
