  • Radio query

Bit of a strange one that just bugs me.

When I am traveling up and down top patents etc listening to radio one the radio doesn't auto tune (rds isn't it?) When the frequency moves. Made sure it is switched on, works on other stations but mainly listen to radio one.

    Any ideas?

This is normally sorted out by the AF function but I believe the DS3 doesn't have this feature. Only suggestion would be to make sure that the REG mode is off, Radio One does broadcast very close to other local stations and switching off the lock feature may help.

Mine seems to auto tune OK. RDS set to active, REG set to inactive

I'm no expert but the AF function is now part of the RDS?

Programme Identification (PI) is a service provided by radio stations transmitting Radio Data System (RDS) data as part of the FM radio broadcast. The PI code allows the radio to display the name of the radio station - for example BBC Radio 1.

RDS receivers decode the extra data contained within the FM radio signal to display extra information on compatible radio receivers.

This information could include the name of the station, information about the programme's output - e.g. song titles, contact details (e.g. telephone numbers) or the current time.

In addition to this information which the listener can see, RDS also allows listeners to stay tuned to a network whilst travelling across the service area of multiple transmitters. It also allows listeners to a particular network to benefit from cross-network travel news services, traffic flashes and for the flagging of travel-related programming.

How can I get my radio to play Radio 4 no matter what buttons my travelling companions press? (or the stupid people who service my car and re-tune it).

Come on, it's drivers rules! Except for how loud it is >_<

I've been toying with the idea of somehow disabling the volume on the front of the stereo... leaving me as the fat controller on the stalks, ahaha =oP

Everyone that gets a lift with me knows not to touch anything, it's common courtesy (and I have great taste in music of course).
