Headunit Question

Hey,

Does anyone know of any headunits that fit in with the styling of the car?

I don't want any of these kind of chavved up ones?

Or has anyone put in a fold out one and if so does it cover much up?

Depends on taste as to chav looking ones.

I've gone for the 177BT, purely because it fits in with the orange dash . Just need a connects2 adapter and I am good to go.

Quality wise, Alpine units are hard to beat IMO. I had a W925R in my last car and it was a superb unit, with the option of changing the colour of the display.

Even a small motorised unit (6.5" screen) is going to cover the heating controls when open. If you are heading down that road, the Alpine IVA-D511RB is a good starting point.

As I have said in other threads, I maintain that sound deadening is the best way to get the most improvement for the £.

Google 'Skinz sound deadening'. It really does make a heck of a difference. If you search on here for a thread I started a couple of months ago called 'bumblebee meets Audison' there are some photos of it being installed. If I had the skills, I'd post a link to it.

I did it in a couple of phases as some of the speakers and one of the amps came with me when I sold my TT. Component wise, you're probably looking at about 2k of stuff installed, plus a couple of hundred for the sound deadening. Plus I then paid to have it all fitted as I haven't got the first damn clue!

They work on many different types of cars for HU's. A guy called Andy there might be able to help.

(He's about 45min away from you - same distance I travelled-ish to get my sub wired. But a phone call - it's like instant travel)

Ah brilliant.

I'd only look at the sound deadening. I'd probably get this done when I change the speakers on the doors, would save £ as i'd be getting someone to do that for me anyway, depending on how much just the sub is, I'd be tempted. Just got a new stereo, so wouldn't want as much kit. Deadening, new speakers in doors and a sub.
