  • Speaker upgrade

Good evening, new to the forum and I have recently purchased a new DS3 (2015). Love the car and I'm pretty happy with the connectivity re: iphone 5 as I can do all the hands free/voice activated 'stuff' through siri+Bluetooth, however, the sound quality is not great through the factory speakers (the Bluetooth audio streaming quality is terrible btw!). If I was to upgrade the speakers would I have to upgrade the head unit as well? In other words, can anyone tell me what the power output of the head unit is so I know if it's worth putting in better speakers?

    Thanks in advance

    Welcome to the club

Bluetooth audio isn't the best quality anyway, have you tried using an aux cable to see if the sounds quality improves?

Have you only tried the audio from your iPhone because it may not be the speakers? If not then get a well recorded CD and try that in the player as it might just be the way your music files have been over compressed by your iTunes settings.

Which model DS3 do you have?

I'm in a very similar position to you having purchased a new DS3 (Techo in my case). I have tried playing proper commercially recorded CDs and at very best the sound quality can be described as 'ok' providing you keep the volume down.
Reading the various threads on this forum it seems that to fit half decent replacement speakers you need to remove the rear speaker casing or basket with a hot knife to fit anything other than very flat low profile speakers.
It takes some courage to start hacking at moldings in a brand new car! Please keep us informed of how you progress. Regards
