Just FYI really, and maybe applicable to some new owners of DS3's - the new 7" Touchscreen that features Jukebox/savnav etc has a new firmware out.

New firmware for SMEG+iV2 - 6.1.D.R20

Release Notes:

• POI Automobiles Peugeot displayed on the navigation map
• TMC messages do not appear in France and UK
• Freezing the multifunction touch screen and navigation system SMEG + i V2 when a Blackberry phone with a software version of the phone beginning at 10, is connected to a USB jack
• Unexpected reboot the navigation system SMEG + IV2
• TMC messages displayed and set out in a language other than the SMEG navigation system + i V2
• A sound off has been made, the sound reactive after a telephone communication
• Some menus and messages multifunction touch screen Hungarian rather than appear in Croatian

I've been told that this is for SMEG+iv2 units on the New 208, DS3, DS5.

Step to do are these:

1) Download the file of 920mb that Bricoman put online.
2) Get a good USB stick of 1Gb or more ( try to avoid cheap sticks at all cost; so use a Sandisk or so )
3) Format this stick and make it FAT32 filesystem
4) Use a good unpacker ( I use WinRAR ) to UNZIP the data to the CLEAN formatted FAT32 USB stick
5) in the root of the stick you put the folder SMEG_IV2_UPG ( so when you "explore" the USB driver you see just one folder "SMEG_IV2_UPG" )
6) go to the car and start the engine - TURN OFF ECO MODE!!!
7) pull out existing USB devices and insert the stick
8) the SMEG will take 2-3 minutes to "recognize" the stick and then it ASKS you if you want to update; press YES
9) the SMEG prepares the system and after 6 minutes it reboots.
10) you keep the USB stick in the USB port -> the SMEG reboots 4-5 times total operation WHILE the engine is running! takes 15-18 minutes
11) the SMEG comes back and you can verify your FW ( 6.1 now )
12) now you can switch of the engine; you are done

Whilest updating the SMEG ( steps 9-10 ) you see a "blue screen" with TEXT -> this is normal you can actually read the progress there.

Just use a freshly formatted USB stick of good quality, take your time ( 20 minutes ) and keep the engine running! - TURN OFF ECO MODE!!! That is it.

Your MAPS and Speedcams are not deleted they remain in the unit; this file only changes / updates the operating system.

Mine still reboots due to sync issues with Android. a quick £1.29 from Google Play store fixed mine.

I've not had any bluetooth sync issues tbf, at least not that i've noticed

Not going to cause a "scene" but this thread goes without saying that doing the above can cause some issue in regards to warranty on the car.

Going to assume that you mean by installing the firmware yourself and not letting the dealer install the latest greatest in their attempt to fix PSA's faulty software. Or did you mean installing an app on your phone will void your car warranty because that is pretty far out there.

You are allowed to install Maps, and the monthly Alert Zone POI Updates, as these are purchased from http://citroen.navigation.com and http://peugeot.navigation.com and require a download to USB stick, plugging into your USB port and follow the directions onscreen.

FYI Firmware Updates are down exactly the same way.

I suspect undertaking FW updates yourself will be the issue, especially if there is a problem that locks up the system

Takes me back to doing similar PC updates for DVD RW drives and the like, adds functionality unless it doesn't when it might leave you with a brick. That said, PS4 FW updates are the same today although I only use the official FW releases and these are designed for home update.

Just like adding a remap/tuning box to your car under warranty, changing/uprating any mechanical parts of your car, Airfilters, etc,etc and even light bulbs

Come to mention it - I remember a guy putting Halfords screen wash into his new Seat Leon, then his washer bottle pump failed, and Seat dealership refused to fix it under warranty, due to the customer not using recommended screen wash! WTF!

So - moral of the story, dont remap your car, or do anything whilst it is under warranty.

Most Hardware Vendors have someone else write the code anyway.

So yes they may not actually write it but they are responsible for it.
