  • Crackly Dash Speakers

Picked up a DS3 very recently and have noticed that the dash tweeters are very crackly. As if the previous owner had the volume incredibly high all the time.

The car still has 2 years left of the original warranty. Is this covered?

Also, could it be that I'm just being hyper sensitive? and that its actually fine and they all sound a bit crackly?

It would be worth having a word with your dealer about this, there is a possibility it might be covered.

This is also why I stress to customers NOT to pump out the tunes full blast straight away, the speakers need a few days to "bed" so for all those with new cars try and keep low for a couple of days.

So, it doesn't seem to crackle when listening to a CD or the Radio. Only on Bluetooth? This seems strange to me as Bluetooth should be lossless?

        Has anyone else had this?

My 2012 DS3 has this issue with the iPod on the USB when connected by cable. My dealer was great and tried several different fixes before Citroen agreed to replace the head unit.

          After that it was fine.

Thanks mate. Seems really intermittent about which part of the stereo that has crackly sound.

My USB and Aux connections are fine, just the Bluetooth that is suffering it. Gonna call the dealer in a bit.

Mine was only really a problem on the USB connection which had crackles and pops at v regular intervals. The dealer agreed it wasn't right and sorted the new head order for me. After that it was great but I've been using the USB port with a Sandisk Thumb drive for ages and prefer this as it's much more subtle in the car.

              Good luck

Took it in today and Service guy in the dealership said "I can't believe how bad that sounds".

                Booked in for Friday.

Hi I've just come across this while looking for some info, mine does exactly this only when connected via Bluetooth. It kind of "pops" every 5-10 seconds, but only on certain songs. I've played around with the speakers, to try and find out if it's one that's gone but it doesn't do it at all when I'm listening to the radio or a cd.

Would love to know the outcome of this!

From reading above looks like a new head unit was the solution
