  • Which Parrot adapter for DS3 and MKI9000.

    Hi.

I am about to go buy a Parrot MKI9000, and i figured out that i need some kind of adapter also.

Did anyone know which one? I have found this:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1610486631...&sojTags=bu=bu

I asked the seller but they just told, that they could not really help because the manufactor dosen't clear state that it would work with a DS3.

Do i need other thing than the kit and the adapter?

    I have this standard radio:

Hi there, i would not go for that lead as it is not a fully populated SOT lead. You need power and speakers which that lead will give you, but if you have steering controls and/or aux input you need the two plugs that go in to the radio also which ARE NOT included in the one you are looking at. I would go to incartecs website and choose part number: 10-535-IGN
This lead will also give you an ignition feed to your parrot kit rather than having to run a cable from the parrot kit to the fusebox on the car and hunting for an ignition feed (which you will have to do with the lead your looking at) This is because the DS3 is CAN controled (canbus) and does not have an ignition behind the radio. If you have any trouble go to a local car audio specialist (NOT HALFORDS) and ask for a fully populated SOT lead with CAN ignition feed for your DS3. Good luck!

      Hi.

Thank you so much for quick answer.

      What about this one:

I dosen't have ignition, but do you think that would be a problem to get that from another place?

No worries, this would make your life easier, however this lead still isn't fully populated. It can still be done though, if you look and the picture in the link you've just posted, the plug on the top right corner with the blue bits in. You will see two spare smaller holes within that plug, these are the ones you need to fill if you have steering controls and aux in. What you will need to do is unplug the quad lock connector from you radio. Remove the two smaller plugs and put the both into the lead you will buy (if it's not fully populated) with regards to finding an ignition you will need to find a ignition feed in the glovebox so you will need a 12volt tester and solder/crimping tools to do a proper job. I'm an auto electrician and work for CBS Automotive in Cambridge so I can guide you to finding the wire when your installing it. Regards

          Hi.

Thanks again for a great answer.

I am not that into soldering, and i don't have the equipment to do the job.

          I found this one instead:

          http://www.ebay.com/itm/MUSIC-SOT-60...YAAMXQUmFSeSYb

Do i need to solder anything if i buy that?

The seller also wrote this to me:

"on this model there is a slight risk that the AUX Ports have been disabled by a dealer - this means that the MUSIC-SOT would work only the same way as a standard SOT, using the musickit's amp.
It should take just a few minutes to re-enable both AUX Ports on a workshop computer.
If the car's computer is set incorrectly it has to be re-configured for any new device to work.
Do you have a dealer that could do this if needed?"

          Something to worry about?

Hi there, yes this is a much better lead and will make your life much easier. In regards to the reply from the seller, this is not true. When you fit the SOT lead you will remove the two smaller plugs within the original quadlock plug that's in the back of the radio, then put them into the blank holes in your SOT lead your fitting and this will retain your steering wheel controls and aux input without coding your car etc. See the picture I've attached and you will see small white plug and black plug within the SOT lead. These are the two you will need to put into your lead, hope this helps! Click image for larger version
