AUX - Iphone cable

Hey guys,

I bought this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

It's meant to charge ipod/iphone while its playing, but this doesn't - am i being stupid here or if the AUX cable is plugged in and the wee iphone connector thing is in, should this not charge??or is it only likely to charge if it's connected through the USB port (which i dont have)??

You would need to plug it into a USB port to charge as no power will go through the 3.5 aux socket.

The AUX socket doesn't have any power, only the USB. You will need the USB socket in order to charge otherwise you will need a 12v adapter instead.

The USB socket does charge as it charges my HTC mobile nicely when I need power!

lol, i read the description of that thing i bought (after i posted it on here) and it mentioned an adapter thing. been a lonnnng week....

This cable is really good. i use it to charge my iphone when i use it as a satnav. it also plays the directions threw the car

Well i ordered the usb adapter thing - plugged it in and the wee light came on but it didnt charge my iphone or my 500 year old ipod nano. Heading round to argos now to get a decent one. tho the sound quality is really good on the lead i got from ebay (aux to bottom of iphone) - i had a lead in the house that was AUX to headphone jack and the sound quality was crap, interferance and stuff.

Just had a look at the reviews on Amazon and there's loads of other people suffering from the same problems.

There's a quick fix here if you fancied like doing some surgery on the thing.

Hi,

Just been reading though your posts and thinking of buying one of these USB chargers from Argos as my iphone 4s always runs out of battery are they any good. How well does the AUX work with an iphone for music is it worth buying an AUX lead or just use the stereo as a MP3 player as i want the sound sounding properly.

You've Mentioned USB But Then You've Gone On To Say About AUX... Do You Know They Are Different Things ?

Does Your DS3 Have The HiFi System ? If So You Will Have Both USB + AUX, If Not Then You'll Just Have AUX.

AUX Works Fine With An iPod For Music But I Find Using The USB Is Better Sound Quality And It Charges The Phone While It's Playing, So Win Win !

Might Be Worth Buying An AUX Lead ( Only About £1 Off Ebay ) Just For Other MP3 Players Etc That You May Have With A AUX Jack.

Thanks for the reply, earlier up in the post a guy said he bought a usb to go in the 12v socket which charges the phone, we have just got the standard system, i ment to say if my phone is charging on the usb in the 12v socket if i plug the AUX cable into the iphone and the AUX socket will the phone still charge as it is playing music.

Yes.
Exactly the same as if you have it plugged into the wall and are listening through headphones.
