Steering remote jumping two tracks on the iPod

Hello,

Before I carry out a factory reset on my iPod I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this problem. When using the steering controls for jumping tracks, it'll only jump two tracks at a time. I can hear it start to play the next song before jumping as though it's being sent the instruction twice. It's only been doing this for the past two weeks or so.

iPod 5th Gen through the USB.

I'll have time next weekend to play about with it but I thought I'd get a known error registered on the forum.

Is this only happening when the iPod is connected or does the same happen with the radio?

Also, does it happen if you skip tracks on the radio itself - not via the steering wheel controls?
