It's an Ipod touch and doesn't seem to work when connected by USB , bluetooth skips also , what am I doing wrong ?

I get this error sometimes when using my ipod touch. It can take about 10mins to reconise. It can be a pain.A Citroën Fanatic

i gave up with my iPhone, although my theory is that it's because some of the music isn't mp3, coz it won't play the .m4a files on my usb stick either
