  • USB - best memory stick set up?

So am going to pick up my new DS3 on Saturday, I intend on doing alot of driving

Am gonna start getting my memory stick sorted with lots of music on it. What is the best way to set it up for the DS3? Is it best to keep all the folders on the root of the stick as opposed to a few different levels? What about playlists and such?

If anyone has any tips I would love to hear them.

    cheers!

I just put all songs in one folder and listen on random - Does get a bit tense at traffic lights - will Nero come on? Or will it be Ghostbusters again.

I chop and change mine a lot though to be fair, so happy to just edit every now and then and refresh it - I get bored very easily.

Depends how you want to listen to it. If you just want a random play jukebox shove em all on the root if you listen to an album at a time (or in my case atm a book) then folders

However you structure the folders on the USB stick the car will treat them like they are on the root.

On my stick I have folders with the Band name, then place their album within the folder. Thats purely for looking neat when using on a PC The DS3 just displays the Album folder name when you are browsing the stick in the car.

I then have a folder with all the random one-off songs in it.

Only downside of structuring the folders like this is the random play will only play the songs from within the folder you are in, not the whole stick

        Hope that helps!

I have mine in the same structure, folders by Artist name in the root and then folders by Album name within those. To play a lot of tracks randomly I select to play a particular Genre instead of Album, it will then play all the tracks that have been tagged with that Genre. If you want to play all your files you could change the Genre tag so that they were all the same. Having just thought about that I may do that with mine now as the memory stick is only used in the car, I have copies of the files on a network drive at home.
