  • Fingers crossed stereo gets fixed!

After waiting 9 weeks for a replacement head unit (mines been crackling when you stream music from Bluetooth) I'm currently sitting in the dealership while they replace it and try to get it working.

Been here an hour and a half so far and they've brought the car out once and it wouldn't even select the different sources (software problem apparently) so its back in the workshop while they try to re download the software but apparently one bit of the software isn't downloading...

I had mine in for that and another problem, didn't bother getting it sorted in the end as I thought it may be the phone rather than the car, think I better get it in again I it's more than one person having the fault

Well now the music sounds better but if you skip to the next song the display just says 'wait' and won't show the song details. If you leave it to play through all the song when the next song comes on it displays the details but as soon as you skip it does it again.

I get bored of songs and tend to skip through quite a bit to find something I'm in the mood for so this could get quite annoying!

So is this a common problem ?

I stopped using the bluetooth to play my music as the sound quality was poor when compared to using an aux cable or good old fashioned cd in comparison. Should the bluetooth be the same quality ?

No, Streaming from Bluetooth will give you a poor quality of sound compared to using the direct inputs.

As regards to the OP the wait symbol is quite common if you are streaming as the car has to speak to the phone and then receive information back again.

I find the bluetooth streaming to be fairly decent sound quality. Im using a 4s but should not make much difference in what phone you have. I have purchased bluetooth dongles for sound before and the quality is appalling, but the DS3 seems fine notice no difference line in or bluetooth and as a music buff (5 years studying the darn thing) i hope i havent gone deaf and missed something. I do wish it would be faster connecting though.

Before they replaced the head unit the 'wait' thing never occurred and it's not like it happens every now and then it's now every time you skip to the next song.

One of the things they said was that the software that the 'mainframe' supplied for my head unit was incorrect thinking that I had two passive arials rather than one passive and one active (or maybe the other way round). Not sure if that was the cause of the interference previously which was much more than just 'poorer quality'. It was like trying to listen to a radio station when you're getting out of range.

Other strange thing I've noticed is after i hang up a call it defaults to radio station 102.0 I think which isn't one of my presets. odd.
