I see what you mean. Also, the two shops are completely different. Scan mainly deal with computer components. Maplin's main business is in electrical components.

      Apples and Oranges.
I can second that Scan are awesome. I buy all my PC components and electrical stuff from them.

Also you do realise you're comparing a 0.5m cable with a 10m cable there?

              Net Total £0.78
              Carriage £3.99
              VAT £0.96
              Total £5.73

And anyway regardless of where you are buying from, is buying the cheapy-cheap-cheap cabling going to do anything for the audio quality?

There's a Maplin in Bolton Town Centre, across the road from the old college. That or a drive to Middlebrook to get to Scan.

Hubby? Are they the new Tandy? We don't have one of their branches around these parts. (And if we did, I'm sure they'd take a dim view of people who pinched stuff)

Get one of these 99p, I got one and works perfectly. Dont waste money on anything more expensive. At the end of the day your buying a piece of wire!!

Yes but there is good wire and bad wire along with the quality of the connectors and quality of the joint from wire to connector. It up to you to decide what amount of single loss your ears are willing to accept

I've hooked my iPod up with some of this because, ye know, I care not for audio quality.

I've got a spare 3.5mm jack to 3.5mm jack cable if you want it. I've also got a connector that joins the said cable to the iPod dock connector. This improves sound quality greatly as its a line out signal and much cleaner. It depends which iPod you have. Send me a pm with your address and I'll post on Wednesday.
