Has anybody fitted a subwoofer to there ds3. I'm looking at an Edge 12" subwoofer and was wondering if the £30 fitting fee was worth it or if I could do it. Any advice and pictures of your subs would be appreciated

    Thanks in advance

It's not that hard to install if you have the knowledge of what your doing. Just make sure the RCA cable and power cable run opposite sides of the car. To be honest I only had to remove 2 bits of trim and that was in the footwells.

if you search you will find a few how do threads.

You will need a new stereo and cables for the stalk to control the date and time in the dash ect.

no because the subwoofer needs a amplifier that needs pre outs and standard head unit doesn't cater this. To put a subwoofer in you need head unit with pre outs , amp wiring kit , amp and the subwoofer in a box.

yes you can use your standard head unit. I'm running a 12" vibe active sub which has a built in amp in my DS3 and i've run the same sub in both my 207's before on the standard headunit,
You just need to know what wires to use.

We rang Halfords up and they said that a sub would blow my head unit (didn't state which package im looking at). This is the package i am looking at:
              http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...Id_237503#tab4
so would this include everything i would need and not blow the head unit? Any pics of your setup/

It is confusing, id be suprised if it blew my head unit as surly the amp will produce enough power for all the speakers plus sub. I suppose it could blow if I pushed the volume up, but I rarly have my music too loud. Only need the sub to take the pressure off my door speakers as the bass is on +9 at the moment.

You be better off with something like this that's all in one like mine and be better if it runs of high inputs IE you tap into the rear speaker channels and use that single to send sound to the sub. Then it's just running your power lead to battery then pick a remote up off back of stereo.

I don't have and pics of set up in my DS3 but I'll put pics i've got of my old 207 GTI that I had the sub running in.

and tez your setup looks sweet in your 207

Thanks tommy, got same set in my DS3 now apart from i've just taken all feeds from the wiring that goes to the built in sub and I have my volume up at 20 most days without any problems.

Hope halfords will do it for you with them thinking it will blow your standard headunit, they be saying that to try and sell you a headunit.
