  • ds3 dstyle AUX socket to usb to play from a memory stick

Hi picking up my new ds3 dstyle next month stupid question probly you the AUX socket in the centre concell can you buy a lead that is AUX to USB so i can just play music from a memory stick is this possible or not any 1 know if this can be done please and if so where to get such a lead ,cheers

    Basically, no.

The aux essentially just turns the car into a big set of headphones and the only control you will have with the headunit/remote stalk over music coming from aux in is the volume. You'll need to plug in a mp3 player or a phone (or any other device with an audio jack) if you want to use the aux in and you will control the music using the device itself.

The two options you have if you want to use a memory stick and you don't have the USB port as standard are to replace the headunit with one that has a USB port, or look into the connecting box.
But you might want to take a look at this thread regarding the latter.

The other option is to use a radio transmitter device, I have an ICE device in my Picasso which works just nicely.

If I remember right the ICE that biggie mentioned allows you to play from SD Card and also jack in a USB Memory stick, also connects via bluetooth and then transmits any of those via FM to your stereo. I'm going on memory mind as I got one for an ex GF of mine and my memory is never the best lol

Got it off Groupon ages ago and will say that it's ace. Bluetooth, radio transmitter, USB and SD card with a remote control!

The only thing is that my one won't support iPod.

The fact being that the car's antenna is on the back, will often result in poor reception, or noise. Had one myself and went back to the store the day after... piece of ...

I've used the ICE Device in my Picasso for the last two years and never had an issue with reception or audio quality. Would recommend it any day.

The majority of the results I found were for 30pin Apple connectors to USB/Aux which wouldn't be any use to someone wanting to use a memory stick.

                              Digging deeper, I found this:
                              http://www.amazon.co.uk/Male-Adapter...ref=pd_cp_ce_0

Which could be combined with this:
                              http://www.amazon.co.uk/Female-USB-A...ef=pd_sim_ce_2

                              And this:
                              http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cables-To-Go...XR8/ref=sr_1_5

So plug the memory stick into the USB adapter, the adapter into the cable, the red and white cables into the aux adapter and then that into the 3.5mm port in the DS3.
Not that that will work, it'll just be connected to the car through a series of cables and adapters.
