  • Strange Happenings with the Radio

Turned the car off to nip in the chippy having had the radio on.

Started the car and the radio display was odd.

The left 3rd of the screen showed the time and date. The right 2/3rds showed the trip computer screen which stayed static and didnt time out like normal.

I pressed source and it went straight to 'Aux', pressed it again and it went back to the screen I mentioned above.

I pressed the 'ok' button and a Screen called Fault Log (or similar) appeared. In that screen it said list empty.

After driving 5 miles the radio burst back into life.

Did it go into a diagnostic mode of some sort that I don't normally see?
if so, Is there a right way to access it and exit from it?

    Weird!

Oh not seen that before, the fault log can be accessed at any time via the stereo controls. Hopefully it's just one of those glitches

Just thinking the wife got in the car 1st and started it by leaning over from the passenger seat. Hmmmm wonder if she did a combination of turns of the key before she got it started??

Good old turn off, then on, reset
If persists would disconnect from battery for a few seconds

It did it again yesterday......... no button press would bring the radio up and there was no sound out of the speakers.

The only input it would recognize as being available was 'Aux 1'.

When pressing menu .... the stereo option on the far left of the screen was greyed out (and not accessible) as if it didn't recognize one as being fitted.

Turning the ignition off/on sorted it out. looks like a video recording of it happening is going top be needed as its so intermittent.

Bigfeet does come across as the 'Don' on the forum here, simply calling him Biggie or Bigfeet feels as though its disrespectful and inviting a horses head on my pillow

Was the display showing "Aux 1" only? Take it you tried the 'Source' button to move between the radio, CD and inputs?

The Stereo options would be greyed out as you can only change setting for the radio only if memory serves.

Yeah, tried the source button and it cycled between clock screen and Aux 1 only.

It's really does look as if the unit isn't recognising radio or CD player functions. Really is an strange one, my van has the same head unit and has been 100% reliable over the last 5 years.
