  • MP3/USB stick help

I have bought one of the tiny USB sticks to use in my new DS3. I uploaded some mp3 tracks (in folders according to album) however when I plug it in, it thinks for quite a while (the timer spins round), then it plays about the first 20 seconds of a track, and then stops. It won't let me skip to the next track or anything. Then when I go to play it again (I skip back round to radio, aux then usb) it won't play anything and will revert back to radio after a few seconds of trying.
Why is this happening and what can I do to fix it?

what format is your usb stick? should be FAT32. also some usb sticks are very slow (and very cheap from fleebay)

if it is skipping the track where did you get it from, the music track may converted with a fully supported codec. remember only MP3 and WMA tracks are fully supported.

"The file formats supported are .mp3 (mpeg1 layer 3 only), .wma (standard 9 only, 128 kbits/sec compression), .wav and .ogg.Certain playlist formats are supported (m3u, ...). On reconnection of the previous memory stick used, play is resumed automatically with the last track played.."

How do I find out the format? It's one of the recommended ones, although it is off eBay, but again, from a recommended seller. All the tracks are. Mp3.

firstly what size is the stick? how many Gigabytes?

best to reformat the drive by putting the drive into a pc and selecting the drive, right mouse click on the drive and select format. use FAT32 for the file system. once the drive is formatted you will need to copy on your music tracks again. once they are copied, try playing the tracks from that drive when plugged into the PC, just to check they are working correctly. once your happy with that, eject the drive and try using the drive in the USB slot of the Stereo input in your car.

        good luck.
