Hi just wondering I wanna have a "hardwired" cable for my iPhone 5 into my standard head unit, I have been told by -Oxford Car Audio- (which I would recommend) that I need Citroen to activate another input i.e CD changer for them to be able to wire the cable in so I can you the steering wheel controls, can the Lexia tool do this or do I need to take it to Citroen?

Do you have the Hi-Fi option ? Don't really understand what you're trying to do ?

No hifi kit,it's the standard head unit, I have upgraded speakers and sub running off of the standard head unit but I want it so I can change song using my steering wheel controls instead of pressing next on my phone, but because I only have an
Aux I need to get an adapter kit for the iPhone 5 ( running from a separate aftermarket USB port) but apparently I need to get something activated on the head unit to take another input so that this is possible

I have the standard head unit but with the HiFi option and I can use the steering wheel controls for changing track volume up down and mute without a hard wire just by pairing with Bluetooth I also use Spotify for all my music and the controls have no issues. Not to sure if you have the Bluetooth fitted? Do you have the orange display like in my picture? If so I'd say it was a better option than having it hard wired hope this helps.

Bluetooth music streaming works just fine with both my previous iPhone 4S and my current 5s - the sound quality on the standard equipment works very well.Regards,

My belief is that the more lowly models in the range i.e DSign or DStyle unless fitted with the HiFi option, only have an AUX in socket. So surely the answer here is to have a USB Box fitted. (Citroen part 9702.EZ). Additionally as mentioned in the initial post, this would need to be enabled by a dealer via Lexia or Diagbox. Another option is to have AutoDAB fitted. The USB box can only be connected via the 30 pin dock connector if you want to have steering column control. This raises an additional problem in that you will need the Apple 30pin dock to Lightning adapter if you are using an iPhone 5. I would stress that I would go for the genuine Apple variety of the adapter as I know from personal experience that this works. You can buy cheaper varieties off eBay or Amazon but I think sometimes these will only charge the phone and you cannot get control of the device via the steering column controls. I have tried plugging an iPhone 5 using the standard issue lightning/USB cable directly into the USB box but this don't work in any shape or form.
