  • Potential Sub/Amp combo...will I need the power Cap?

So i'm looking at this double Sub with inbuilt amp on amazon, and one of the "people who bought this also bough" is a capacitor for smoother input power. The subs are 1300W RMS and I wondered if i'd need this capacitor?

    Subs/Amp = http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bass-Face-PO...ass+face+2600w

    Capacitor = http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bass-Face-CA...bxgy_ce_text_y

If its not needed to ensure they work but is recommended then I'll probably buy the kit this month and get the capacitor next month so I get to see the difference.

Cheers in advance for your help

Hey, wow those are nice subs might invest in some myself I have a vibe 1200w max 500rms and no capacitor. It runs fine and I imagine those would too. But personally if I get those for the extra £30 I would get a capacitor. Might not make a difference but it's there anyways and looks cool

Yeah looks like a great set up just to make sure I buy the right gauge wiring as anything under 1500W will melt haha. My concern was that it would draw too much power from my battery without the capacitor and run it flat, I will eventually get the capacitor but if its not 100% needed straight away i'll buy it next month or something. Then i'll just have rear speakers and tweeters to replace

I don't think the capacitor would stop your draining the battery either way. I think the capacitor just gives the amp a constant voltage, so as your accelerate ect and the voltage goes up the subs still get the same clean power. I wouldn't worry about draining the battery as economy mode would kick in before that happens its only if you wire it wrong so the amp is constantly powered up even with the car locked ect that it could kill the battery. Have to let me know how these subs sound/ fit in the boot

Quite possibly the reasoning behind the capacitor, hopefully I shouldnt wire it wrong after 2 years building Public Address / Voice Evac systems I reckon my wiring knowledge can handle a sub lol. Yeah I shall do, the enclosure isnt that big from the dimensions given, 800mm by 380mm by 350mm i think it says. Probably end of feb when its all in, need to put the Pioneer head unit back in the new DS3 but i'm too lazy while its raining all the time haha.

oh nice, hopefully not then Id probably get a capacitor anyway just because it looks cool imo aha but then again me being 18 anything with led's and remotely fast and furious style looks cool Im stuck between these subs and the vibe twin 12" active enclosure

haha, i'll end up with one no doubt. Will speak to the Audio guru at work tomorrow and see what he suggests. Same, 22 and if its got lights I love it....need to get some LED strips for the boot space once this goes in. Whats the price like on the vibe twin enclosure? Everything I've read about "Bass Face" is that they can offer the products cheaper because they ship direct from manufacturer, and distributors wont charge more than them because whats the point when you can buy direct? 1300W RMS power is amazingly nice though

Yeah let me know his opinion pweeeeze boot LEDs are a must I love mine! Got some blue strobes to put in after I get the new setup. Looking at the specs the bass face subs are more powerful, smaller box and come with a remote which is great! Here's a link to the vibe one - http://bit.ly/17DufUq

Will do. Dont think I could handle strobes, and i'm favouring white at the moment for some reason haha. Ouch, £100 more expensive, no remote and RMS power is 500W less? For the extra money all you get is a wiring kit, less power and less boot space lol

Yeah seems to be the extra price for the brand, don't get me wrong I love vibe, using there active 12" subwoofer now with rms 450w in a sealed box. So going duel 12", ported box and more watts should really kick there blue strobes but you can set them to permanent on which looks nice in the boot, may get some strips of blue and white for every day use then shows. I love blue but visability wise white wins. I'm always skeptical about buying large expensive items like this online, just because if it goes wrong or I don't like it how on earth do you return that without it costing more that you payed for it lol

Seems that way. Ahh that doesnt sound too bad then, where did they come from and how much if you dont mind me asking?

I plan on getting it from Thompsons Ltd who are charging same price as amazon, seem to be a respected retailer and they offer collection on faulty goods for £5

Would that be this by any chance? http://bit.ly/14pBN7z

The blue strobes are from Halfords and where about £15. But mates just brought 4 30cm white led strips for £10 lol

thats the one haha, I've emailed them direct to ask a couple of things too so see what they say.

Nice, will have to pick some of those up, the interior lights in the footwells are rubbish so might replace them

Can you let me know what they say to your questions? If you think they might be relevant to me too please. Yeah I did my footwell with strips of blue LEDs, makes such a difference!

Had a reply back first thing this morning...wiring it is same as any other amp, won't need to worry about the battery or alternator being drained and the power cap can be installed at a later date is the short version of whag they said haha
