  • Ipod woes

    Hi,

Car going for first service on Friday and in addition to my non working seat belt woes, I've asked for the ipod function to be looked at.

I select my playlist and just leave it to play whatever comes on. That part of it works fine, no problem. I've also got the random feature on as well so the playlist is in no particular order (e.g not by artist or album)

However, at the end of each song, it plays about 3 seconds of the next song that would have followed it if it wasn't on random selection.

It's slightly annoying - happens on every track and every playlist. Any ideas what causes this and any remedies? When I booked the service in they said they had never heard of such a problem. (sure they probably say that to every fault found)

    Cheers.

Is the random function set on the car or the iPod?

Also what Gen is the iPod?

The random feature is set on the car - do I need to do anything to the ipod?

Its a classic 30gb video ipod, old but is up to date with latest apple release.

That might be your issue then, the standard setup is only designed to work with Apple Players that are 5th Gen or newer.

This may help in identify your model - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353

If you're always going to use random I'd try setting it to random on the iPod instead and leave it as normal on the car. It could be a delay from the car reading the end of the song to it skipping to the next track. Worth a shot.

Cheers, will try that suggestion and will swap over to random on the Ipod. I do have a newer model which I gave to my other half - I kept the classic because it doesn't have the reduced volume which was introduced on the newer shuffles. (Damm EU rules) There is definately some kind of delay going on, but this makes sense if its because its an older model.

Edit - just checked - my ipod is a 5th generation video/30gb player so it should be compatible.
