  • How to: Change the bootscreen from your RT6/eMyWay system

So the last three days i've been playing around with some scripts(mirascript) to change the bootscreen from our RT6/eMyWay systems. I would like to share with you the best script(IMHO) I've took this script from the www.ds3spirit.com forum so all credits for developing this script goes out to " ALBATROSD " the original thread is found here: http://www.ds3spirit.com/showthread....-du-Emyway-RT6

    Tools required:
    - PC with Windows OS
    - USB flash drive
    - a JPEG picture with 800x480 resolution

    1. Take a USB flash drive and format it as FAT32 on your PC.
    2. Download this file: https://ssl7.ovh.net/~consoles/MON_ACCUEIL.zip
    3. Unpack the content of the zip file and place in the root directory of your USB flash drive
    4. Copy the desired picture to the root directory of the USB flash drive and rename the picture to 'Image.jpg' (i've put some nice examples at the end of this post)
    5. Insert the USB flash drive into your RT6/eMyWay system
    6. You will get a pop-up screen with a french command at the bottem; 'MON_ACCUEIL' --> press 'No'
    7. You will get the next pop-up screen with a french command at the bottem; 'RESTAURATION' --> press 'No'
    8. You will get the next pop-up screen with a french command at the bottem; 'SAUVEGARDE' --> press 'Yes' This will make a back-up from the original bootscreen on your USB flash drive
    9. After the script is finished unplug the USB flash drive and replug it again
    10. You will get a pop-up screen with a french command at the bottem; 'MON_ACCUEIL' --> press 'Yes' This will copy the desired picture to the system and create a .inf file for the picture.
    11. After the script is finished it will terminate. press and hold the eject button to reboot the system
    12. It could be possible the bootscreen remaines the same, in that case repeat step 10&11(in my case I needed to repeat is once)
    13. If you want to restore to the original bootscreen plug in your USB flash drive, choose 'RESTAURATION' --> press 'Yes'
    14. All done, enjoy your new 'cooler' bootscreen

Please share your experience and custom bootscreens!

Guys, great tutorial! It works great!

I've installed our club's logo (Club DS Argentina) and it looks awesome!

BTW, I've translated this tutorial to spanish and published in our forum (with credits to you and DS3Spirit.com).

I've done this on mine and its a great touch, if only a short video clip could be played in the amount of time it takes the unit to boot

Those of you using the new Touchscreen can do something similar, load a jpeg onto a USB and insert it the socket. Now select the radio and press the sub menu button, from here select photo and choose the image you want to use from the USB.

The other point of note which I should mention is that by flashing the RT6 system with a new boot image it will have impact on any warranty work in future that may be required as this would be classified as a modification to the system.

                    I know mate!

I'm just thinking of those who maybe want to do this but need to be aware of the implications.

That's right. But at least this method has the ability to backup and restore the original ones quickly and easily.

A bad flash will kill almost anything associated with it, its safer now than back in the days of single core CPUs and soldering chip bridges on a motherboard using a magnifying glass but there is always a chance something could go wrong.

Anybody happy with their system then leave it be, if you want the latest firmware and maps for free plus a cool pic of whatever (and obviously mine will be of me) then crack (no pun) on.

I think it's the cold weather. Mine seems to take ages atm but I'm sure over the summer it was faster.

I think it depends on how much time the car was stopped. This video was taken 15 minutes after it was stopped. It takes more seconds to boot if I leave the car stopped to the next day.
