  • Howto: LEDs lit in the day and LED+Hedlight in the night

    Hi Guys

Just saw this on DS3Spirit.com, sry. if the has allready been posted:

Everything is translated from French to English using google, but i hope it make some sense.

Here is a tutorial for our LEDs stay lit even with the low beam and an intensity much lower than the original!
So first of all it is necessary to remove the wheel to have more space to work

Once the wheel is removed you must remove the fender!
To do it you need to remove some screws and plastic insert.
Personally I removed all the fender to be sure! Its do not take much time!
    Side "back"

    Side "front"
    ]
    And also under the car

Some pictures of the fender and after it was removed !

So once the fender is removed you can see the box that contains the leds (left on picture)

This case is held by only 2 screws!

Now it's the most boring! It is necessay to remove the glass box to access the inside!
This glass is very much stuck! So it took almost an hour to remove it!
So I started with a screwdriver to pry into the groove between the glass and plastic case. Then I tried with a cutter to cut the black glue! After a while I put in the oven to soften the glue! The oven must be cold at first not to have too big a difference in temperature to 100 degrees and after about 5 minutes! Once I started handling hot with the screwdriver and the knife! Do not hesitate to return the case to the oven from time to time! In any case if the plastic edges are slightly damaged it is not very serious because its not visible at all once everything back!

Once everything is removed you must drill holes to put new leds less powerful for the night!

Once all holes are drilled it is necessary to glue the LEDs in it!
For white LEDs I took 5mm.

For the cables to power the leds I made a small hole just above the connector for the LEDs of origin!
Once all the LEDs are mounted must pick up the glass!
Then it is important to keep it tight as the case adheres well!
    Finally it goes back in!

Now for the wiring to feed the LEDs on the right:
I made the cables back into the wheel by following the cables of the LEDs of origin:

Connect the negative directly on the battery:

And for positive I spend in the fuse box in a hole in the rubber sealing free and I plug it on the big white cable from left:

    LEDs for the left:
So as the other side I went up the cable in the wheel

I made the cable fully behind the engine to reach the fuse box on the other side!
I drew a red line where the have not seen it on cable!

Once I reached the other side I'll couple the cables to those of the LEDs on the right

And finally some pictures for comparison!
A photo of the night with LEDs origins

And with changes that are happening on the parking lights and crossing

Someone needs to come up with a way to replace the LEDs with dual LEDs and an auto switch for when the side lights are on xD

Now that is a write up and half!!! Well done. A lot of effort for some night time Leds that being the driver you will never see though.

                  Horses for courses I guess.

                  Still, top kudos buddy.

I wonder if anyone has fitted LEDs to the rear lights that illuminate with the DRLs?

There's some wee rectangles moulded into the lenses which I'm sure that I read somewhere (on DSpirit?) were LEDs on a prototype

You never heard of baked lights before? 100c is like going to sauna with your lights, plus you don't have to remove back of the light from the cover, you can always drill the holes from behind (no pun intended).
