  • Irritating noises that seem impossible to solve!

I'd be grateful for any advice on a couple of issues on my 2014 Vti 1.6 Benefit special edition.

    1. A loud clonk in both doors when you hit a bump, or hole, in road hard. My local dealership (Charters Citroen in Aldershot) have had the car twice now and cant solve it. They agree there's a noise but they don't know whats causing it and have put it down to a ''characteristic'' probably caused by the large doors flexing. They had 2 other DS3s in at the time so they drove both of these and found one also made the noise but the other one didn't.

    2. An intermittent high pitched whistle inside the car - maybe coming from the speaker in the dash but I'm not sure. It sounds like an electrical type noise that whistles with the accelerator; going up in pitch the more the accelerator is depressed. I've also noticed that without the engine running, and the key turned to the first position on the ignition switch, I can hear a buzzing noise. When I press the accelerator the buzz goes away. Take my foot off and it returns. Its completely random though. It can do it throughout a whole journey constantly or it can be intermittent coming and going every few minutes, or I can go for several days and not hear it at all. I've tried switching off, the radio, the climate control and the fan but to no avail. I've taken it to Charters, but of course, it didn't make the noise for them and without hearing it they haven't/wont investigate what could be causing it even after I've given them a detailed description.

Any opionions or experience of either of these problems would be much appreciated.

Number 2 is a bad ground in the radio I think, there was a DIY fix for this but I'm not sure. A little searching in the search box will probably return the correct thread.

Thanks BemS. I found quite a few posts about the same problem. Surprised my dealer didn't seem to know anything about it (or am I!). Unfortunately I've never been in a position to video whats going on or have been passing the dealership when its being playing up so I'm going to send them the link to a You Tube clip on someones post and see if that helps them out any.
