  • DS3 parking sensor intermittent fault Wilmoths unable to fix

More often than not, when reverse gear is selected first thing in the morning, the near side parking sensor shows 3 bars on the display even though there is no obstruction behind the car. This display is accompanied by a continuous beep. No other bars are shown on the display.
Wilmoth's of Hastings have had the car in twice and have not been able to fix the problem. So it will have to be a DIY job.

I would like to swap the two outside sensors to see if the fault changes from left to right side. If it does then I can simply replace the faulty sensor.

My question is how do I remove and then replace the factory fitted sensors?

Unless I can fix the problem I have to suffer a continuous beep whenever the car is in reverse.

Get under the car and look at back side of sensor. Straight forward job unplug / unclip.

Sounds like water getting trapped in from a bad seal since it happens more in the morning. Can try to fix the seals yourself if you don't want to spend out on new sensors.

try swapping it with one of your good sensors(Move it around) and see if the fault moves to what ever sensor you replaced it with.. if its just that one sensor then it's faulty and needs replacing, Brianofstleonards

Somehow I think that was his plan but I may be going out on a limb here.

Play nice and we're all going to have a good time...

Anyways, all the reversing sensors are the same.

The park sensors just unclip from the rear of the bumper, stick you hand up and have a feel about!

Do check the alignment of the sensors as well because (mentioned above) if they are not flush then water/moisture can get trapped causing a false alert.

I didn't Make you look like anything! Dare I say you did that all by Yourself, but why should you keep it shut? The only one that hasn't ever made a mistake, misread, or just plain screwed up has never done anything at all.
