Whining noise when accelerating around 40mph+

Recently I have heard a whining noise from the front drivers side of the car when accelerating around 40mph upwards, it's not there when stationary only when accelerating.  There is no noise coming from wheel which have read could be wheel bearing.  Has anyone got any other ideas?  Payday not til end of the month TIA

Sounds like it could be a wheel bearing to me, does the noise change when you turn the steering wheel?

No it's been fine when turning the wheel?  If it is a wheel bearing will I get a couple of weeks grace out of it?
