  • electric wing mirrors when its icy

Please can someone tell me what is the best thing to do when the car is frozen and when unlocking car the wing mirrors auto open. One day this week was very bad and one of my mirrors had difficulty opening - thank goodness it did after a slight struggle but i dont want to do that again in case it ruins them. Is there a way to keep them unfolded when i go to the car on a frozen morning. I have got the manual out but am not sure it will do what I want. I would be interested in knowing what other people do.

Ive had 3 DS3's but none with retractable wing mirrors

I think you can map out the automaticity of them. Either a dealer, or someone with a plug in terminal. Maybe at the centre console settings menu?
Private message Jamie SPTuning on here and he should be able to tell you its possible

Or how about putting some material over the wing mirrors, just to protect from frost
Or pull a fuse, but a bit drastic I spose

ok thanks for reply - when it goes in for MOT in a couple of months i will ask at the dealers - let them do it or show me if i can set them to stay out if its going to freeze over night as i dont want to hear the crunching sound again like last week. So if it freezes this week im out early i will walk to work rather than knacker my wing mirrors lol. I have ordered some of those frost protection wing mirror covers will try them - ok thanks very much

Protection covers, great. Or just stick a big sock over them, overnight?

well this week i came up with wrapping bubblewrap round the chrome arm of it - its been icy this week and didnt want to hear any icy crunching as windows opened - it seemed to do the trick insulating it
