  • DiagBox PC Cleanup

    If you have installed DiagBox on your favourite PC, you have most certainly noted that a lot of strange stuff
    is being started up when you boot your PC. This is of course fine, if you are using DiagBox a lot.
    But if you are only using it for your own car, hopefully you are not using it a lot :-/
    So how to avoid all this stuff running?

    You could of course uninstall DiagBox, but since it takes several hours to install it again, this is probably not what you want.
    So here is what I did in order to regain my ownership of the PC

    A lot of processes run as soon as you boot your PC when you have installed DiagBox.
    This is not making your PC faster or better!

    I use Xp, so there might be differences if you use another operating system.

    I use a simple method, just renaming all the folders installed by DiagBox.
    The more "correct" way would of course be to find the places where these directories are accessed, and stop it there.
    But this simple method is probably faster and easier to remember.
    Re-enabling DiagBox is real quick this way.

    In order to be allowed to rename some of the folders, you will have to kill some running processes using the TaskManager.
    Processes to kill:
    eclipse.exe (God know why this is running!)
    fbguard.exe
    fbserver.exe
    httpd_ddc.exe (two processes)
    j9w.exe
    psaAgent.exe
    psaSingleSignOnDaemon.exe
    sim.exe

    After this I rename as follows:
    C:\APP -> C:\REN_APP
    C:\AWRoot -> C:\REN_AWRoot
    C:\Backup_DB -> C:\REN_Backup_DB
    C:\CDTELE -> C:\REN_CDTELE

    Now rebooting the PC does not start all this garbage each and every time.

    If you have to use DiagBox again, all you have to do is deleting all the "REN_" in the folder names
    and reboot.

    You can of course in stead of "REN_" use "RENAMED_IN_ORDER_TO_AVOID_DIAGBOX_PROCESSES_TO_ST ART_UP_AND_SLOW_DOWN_MY_PC_" :-)

        Chris_fbc I am not selling or advertising anything here. But I agree with you that the Lexia diagnostic tool, that several of us use, is a lot of crap :-)

          chadfleet Sorry for the late reply, haven't had much trouble with my car recently :-)

          I think it is the Lexia version 7.57 I had installed on my old Xp laptop, now moved to a win 10 laptop recently.

          In case anyone try to install it, here are the notes I made after/when I installed it. It is in Danish, but I think you will be able to understand, maybe use Google Translate (at your own risk :-)

          Johny:

          Hvis man virus scanner DTLite4454-0314.exe, f?r man mange advarsler om OpenCandy,
          se https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenCandy

          S? det er nok en god ide, at skrive
          DTLite4454-0314.exe /NOCANDY
          og v?re opm?rksom p? ikke at acceptere installation af u?nskede ting.

          AFBRYD INTERNET ADGANG.

          N?r Daemon Tools Lite ?bner, trykker man p? + knappen, og v?lger ISO filen med gr?nne CD i drevet
          Dobbeltklik p? iso filen
          Gennemf?r som beskrevet i INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR DIAGBOX 7.docx
          Opdater op til 7.57

          CLEANUP
          Der startes en del snavs op ved hver reboot, s? fjern f?lgende:
          AWRSrv.exe
          eclipse.exe
          fbguard.exe
          fbserver.exe
          ftspssrv.exe
          httpd_ddc.exe (2 processer)
          j9w.exe
          psaAgent.exe
          psaSingleSignOnDaemon.exe
          sim.exe

          Hvis Diagbox skal opdateres, skal man fjerne:
          C:\AWRoot\bin\fi\APPDIAG.SYS

          Efter opdateringen, kopieres APPDIAG.SYS fra n?rv?rende folder til C:\AWRoot\bin\fi\

          PS: Det er formodentlig ikke n?dvendigt at fjerne filen, f?r man opdaterer, men
          det er hvad installations vejledningen siger.
