  • Change the lighting of the climate

Here, finally, the much-needed leadership to replace that hideous orange coloraccio enlightenment of our DS ...

    First thing: Get the LEDs

SMD 3528 LED PLCC2: who will replace the 15 orange LED - (4 for the buttons at the top - 7 for the central display - 3 fan and arrows on the right) I have taken them white.

SMD LED 0603: who will replace the 2 LED light that trigger the sbrino sbrino windshield and rear window wiper ... I have taken them blue.

    We come to the point:

Remove the cap by levering between the silver frame and slots hooks headphone

when you remove the cap, slightly tug the frame from the base of the headset to pick up and remove it completely.

removed the frame, unscrew the only two Allen screws 6 point ... a left and a right.

After removing the screws, press down lightly to remove the climate display height of its housing.

then disconnect the connectors, black and yellow of the current command (for yellow pull the black lever to the right and then pull out).

    climate extract

open climate with the tabs (4 above and 2 below).

Now you can see that the display is set using 4 sticks of iron bent.

then straighten the levers to allow the extraction of the display thus being able to replace the LED 7 below.

here is an overview of the board

Now prepare your 3528 SMD LED PLCC2, welding a small amount of tin in both polarities of each LED.

Now all that remains is to unsolder the leds original orange LEDs with our previously prepared (I opted for white)
Be careful not to touch the circuit board with a soldering iron, just position yourself on the welds of the LED and heat it up to free it from the weld.

here is an overview of some leds replaced.

Now we pass to the replacement of the central LED display.

Now that we have finished the replacement of SMD 3528 LED PLCC2, we pass to the mini SMD LED 0306 lights of the windshield and rear window wiper.

now do a test to see if you have paid good all the LEDs by connecting the card in the car using only the black wire.

Now close the climate by paying attention to the alignment of the inner rubber to press the keys and here is the final result.

Looks great, not sure I'd trust myself that much with my soldering iron though if I did it the white LEDs look great.....

Great write-up and the finished product looks amazing!

As LFC says though, I'm not sure I'd trust myself to do it.

Here's the final pic for everyone else, for some reason your post isn't displaying correctly.

Looks soooooo much better. Don't fancy having a crack myself as would definitely end with left over screws

The white better matches the dials but I'm too heavy handed to do it, I'd have to ask my mate, who's an electrician to do it for me....

It looks great but aren't the other lights still orange?

True as the centre display and radio light up orange.

Personally I prefer the amber compared to a white light for driving at night. Less stress on the eyes for me.
