  • Coventry Broken Down lol...

Had a quick chat with the friendly man who's going to be in trouble with his wife for putting petrol in her diesel white n black, not to mention he conked out in the middle of the roundabout causing a bit of a jam lol. He said dont worry, nothing wrong with your car just me lol!

How can he do that? Thought nozzles of DERV and petrol didn't fit each others aperture! And also fuel is colour coded
Could be an expensive mistake Ben eh?

Sort of right Chris, diesels have bigger nozzles so you can put petrol in a diesel but not the other way around.

Depends how much he put in, if it was enough for him to conk out then I doubt it'll be cheap !

If you do it, better than Diesel in Petrol.

Putting diesel into petrol is the worst as it takes longer to sort out, that is assuming that the engine has been run and it's gone right through the system.
Petrol into diesel is quick and easy to sort out in my opinion, some will say that the diesel is the lubricant for the pump and petrol will damage it but the engine won't run on petrol so the pump doesn't do any work once it's stopped anyway.

            Techies please comment?

              ^ not true.

Putting Petrol into a Diesel engine is worse, petrol has a higher octane, is more flammable and Diesel engines operate under much more pressure than petrol engines.

There's a few cases where the engines have exploded, I know of one myself.

I might make my self look stupid but here goes ......petrol needs a spark to make it go bang in your engine as there is no spark it wont go bang..Thats why it wont run on petrol ......But if you put Diesel in your petrol it will run but very rough and smoke like a steam train.
So the worst case is petrol in a diesel because the petrol buggers all the seals in the high pressure pump and if you take it to your dealer you will find to keep within the warranty you will have to change the pump and all filters and maybe the fuel sender unit in the tank..... Mr BigFeet will know what has to be done.........
