How long do those clay mitt's last? or in other words how do I tell if its worn out?
Cracking write up that btw!
Five times longer than a clay bar. I have done probably about 12/15 details with my mitt and I bought a new Autosmart towel version on Sunday. It will feel less tacky and will underperform when it's time for replacing.
A car owner who just looks after his one car would look to be using a clay mitt probably once every 6 months. So on that basis, 5 years at least.
Oh and thanks for the compliment btw👍

Ace thanks for the advice! Should have plenty of life left yet then!
I also cleaned all the rear arches out and the rear calipers while I had the rear wheels off. Full inside wheel clean (bellone's are shiny inside too) and general disc tidy up. Forgot to take pictures though...doh

Now the alloys are clean, now is the time to get them sealed. Will make cleaning them in the future much easier as a dedicated wheel cleaner will then not be required. Just a mitt and shampoo.

Cheers Chris, After spending a wedge on the car and planning to keep it for a few years I don't mind spending on maintaining it. Andy's advice has been spot on!
Rookies are allowed 3 mistakes and that's your first.
It is terrible Ste. It's like trying to apply jelly. An age to get on, even longer to buff off and not very resilient. A good 20 minutes wasted per alloy. Whereas other sealants can be applied to all 4 wheels in less time than that.
