  • Painting the calipers...

    Good afternoon everyone!

I'm not quite sure this is the right section or it should be in Car Mods but anyway

I would like to paint the calipers (not sure if that is the right word), the heads of the braking rimms

    in dark red like brembo,
    1) would it look nice?
    2) Is it a big job to do ?
    3) what paint is needed so that it doesn't melt off?

I think it would look quite nice with white rimms and the red calipers on a black ds3

    thanks for your time all

    1. does look good
    2. not hard to do i just took my wheels off rubbed down caliper with wet and dry paper / wire brush went over whole assembly with brake and clutch cleaner then in with the paint. ( all without taking calipers off , didnt want the hassle)

    3. I have used hammerite in the past but have just recently rubbed my red ones down and re done them using an E - Tech brake cailper kit.

Hope this helps would look good behind white wheels.

As above did it on a fiesta years ago. Just do lots of layers and leave plenty of time for it to dry

Used this stuff myself- pretty good. Put on after 20 miles of having the car, so only quick clean with Meths as prep
Then took all wheels off (to put aftermarkets on mainly) and painted
Actually I got Matt Red first, but didn't think it worked, so about 500 mile in took all wheels off again, painted using this Gloss
Then CITROEN Black logo on top, specific wheel caliper decals
7000 miles in and all looks good still. Quick clean with Meths now and again
