They are the same in that they are both panel filters. They each use a different medium to filter the air. Pipercross is a foam filter while K&N is a cotton gauze filter.Originally posted by cyclone

I would say personal choice have used both styles and never had an issue with either. Think the foam ones are a bit more robust and take improper cleaning better; if used per manufactures spec both will last as K&N would say a million miles. They both will flow more air than a standard paper filter but you are not going to feel any HP difference between the 3. Modern standard auto air boxes and filters flow remarkably well and are normally not a choke point on a mildly tuned engine.Originally posted by cyclone

Thought my KN was foam/sponge actually. Will go check that out
Even recharged the thing before i put it in, and thought the texture was sponge.
Dont remember it being cotton/gauze. Still have the box so will go lookie, to make sure my belief is wrong
ED- current ebay ad says oiled cotton gauze. wonder what i got lolLast edited by Chris_Blue; 27-12-2013, 12:14.sigpicJog on Noddy

Fair enough re Piipercross. Yes - looking at springs. myself, too.
A set of AP springs went on auction ebay (30mm rear 40mm front) for about £65 last week
Was a bit peeved actually- should have bid. Don't know whether you get better quality, the more you pay, with springs
Wouldn't have thought so- a springs a spring innit?
