If you get the chance over the next two days to visit this unique Citroen World event - only held here once before in UK back in 1984 try & do so – you’ll love it!!

My mate down here comes from Shields and he likes being called a Mackem (He says South of the Tyne)
Its a Geordie that he dont like being called (And he gets quite animated)
Everybody North of Watford calls me a bleeding Cockney (Cor blimey mate- Call the peeleres awright matey)

Your mate is obviously a kretin or isn't actually from round here. Mackems are from Sunderland on the River Wear- yes, there's 3 big rivers here (Tyne, Wear, Tees) thus the area is called Tyne AND Wear and local TV used to be called Tyne Tees.

Northumberland- Often get called Woolly Backs (lots of sheep, lots of farms)
Newcastle- Geordie (King George's Men)
South Shields - Sand Dancer (Large of Population of Yemeni Arabs and the Iraqis came here with the Romans to pan for salt)
Sunderland- Mackems (don't get me started on them...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr)
Hartlepool- Monkey Hangers (they caught a monkey that ran off a ship, they couldn't understand what it said so thought it was a French Spy and hung it in the town square)
Middlesbrough- Smoggies (Heavy Indistry, used to be lots of pollution)

Anyone form Shields wanting to be called a Mackem is

a) a total friggin kretin- we hate mackems in Shields
b) lying out of his backside and isn't from Shields and is in fact from Sunderland, probably Whitburn or Seaburn

and anyone from Shields would far prefer being called a Geordie to a Mackem- we consider it a pretty major insult round here

Used to knock around with a bloke called "The Vicar" in Shields and he used to get upset bout what he was called
FAIRIES- Down here yer could get locked up for that (Honest)
