I know it's not the same but I have driven the Nürburgring in Gran Turismo 5 on the PS3, I can honestly say that due to it's length it's the hardest circuit to learn and even when you think you have it sorted it can bite you !!

In learning the course it really helps. I played Forza 4 a lot between the first and second time I went to Nürburgring. Though the game is not fully accurate it makes it easier to remember if the next turn is a left or a right :P

Had a go on the ring yesterday. Truly insane track! You don't really get the feeling of the track going up and down on playstation There were a lot of cars on track, which made it extra tricky. Would like to go back another time, when it's a bit calmer (so I don't have to look for fast aproaching M's and porsches all the time), and when the car isn't packed with camping gear and empty beer bottles (we came from Nature One festival)
All things considered, the car did good though! Got the biggest scare after the lap was finished, the brakes were overheated and didn't do much braking when I came at an intersection. Luckily I managed to stop just in time!

I think you'd be surprised, you need to let the faster cars past and there are a lot of them, my mate did it in a Subaru Impreza and was staggered by the speed of some of the cars and bikes going round.

The speed of other cars is unbelievable! As I said, on my lap there where lot's of BMW M3's, All sorts of Porsches, Jaguars, Aston Martins,... You don't even have a chance to keep up with that in a humble DS3 But you don't have to use your brakes for them, they can leave you far behind when you're going full throttle. What you do need is a good functioning right turn signal
But about the brakes: I was surprised that standard brakes can't cope with one lap of the ring. Would have been scary if I had chosen to do a second lap!

I did a couple of laps at Donnington last year and even after that I had my foot firmly planted on the brake at the last chicane but still nearly went over the kerb instead of around it because of the amount of heat going through them.

                        Ridonculous.

The only time I could envision you not needing to brake on a race track is if you're not driving fast enough

To be perfectly honest- the first few laps on this track, would have no intent on thrashing all the way round
Quite happy to toodle round, with full use of gears
(And you would agree lfc woudnt you)
