My PS3 is.................Dead

My 2007 day of release PS3 had sadly passed away after its laser failed to read whilst the current Mrs SFG was watching Game of Thrones on Blueray.

So last night I ordered a PS4 complete with GTA5

Its been dispatched so hopefully she will be back to watching it next weekend.

My launch day PS3 died several times over, mostly it appeared to want to cook itself at regular intervals Luckily I had Sony Insurance on it (they stopped offering it v quickly) and I ended up with 5 'fixed' PS3's that all did the same thing.

In the end I traded in the last working one at Game for a PS3 slim and this has been super reliable for the past 4.5 years

Sounds more like an Xbox ha ha. I had mine apart and replaced the crap Thermal Paste with decent stuff and changed the fan, ran fairly cool and mostly silent.

I took two of mine apart (mainly to retrieve stuck discs) and tried the thermal paste replacement and a re heat of the board. The first time it lasted another 3m second time less than 2 weeks

Sounds like the fan upgrade worked

It arrived yesterday, my daughter set it up when she got home and was playing GTA V when the wife got back from work. It sounds good with my Q Acoustics sound bar via the optical link. Cant wait to get my new Panasonic TV when im home (they are out May/June).
