Tony Scott, the British-born filmmaker who directed Hollywood blockbusters such as Top Gun, True Romance and Crimson Tide, has died after leaping off a bridge in Los Angeles.

The 68-year-old younger brother of director Ridley Scott took his own life yesterday afternoon after parking his car on the Vincent Thomas Bridge and leaping into the water below, Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office confirmed today.

    Very sad

    Feature films
    • The Hunger (1983)
    • Top Gun (1986)
    • Beverly Hills Cop II (1987)
    • Revenge (1990)
    • Days of Thunder (1990)
    • The Last Boy Scout (1991)
    • True Romance (1993)
    • Crimson Tide (1995)
    • The Fan (1996)
    • Enemy of the State (1998)
    • Spy Game (2001)
    • Man on Fire (2004)
    • Domino (2005)
    • Déjà Vu (2006)
    • The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009)
    • Unstoppable (2010)

True Romance is one of my favorite films.

Not that fussed about Top Gun, but I hear its a hoot. Girls like it for something about Tom Cruise, he doesn't look that short and rides a motorbike and guys like it because it made bromances ok and they can quote from it and do epic high 5's. Highs and lows - Val Kilmer was thin and a goose dies tragically mid flight.

Heard this on the radio today, very sad as the man was a truly great director.

Man on Fire is my fav from his list as well as Unstoppable.

Top Gun.... the less said about that the better!
...I should never have doubted the Lord of Bacon!!

I caught this on the radio on the way in this morning, sad times.

Top Gun is cheese-tastic though. And Meg Ryan is in it.
