I'll give you a clue, the colour nearly matches the roof of her DS3.

Loving it so far, very easy to set up and use. We've mostly used it for Netflix & iPlayer so far. A bargain for £18 in the Currys sale today.

And SFG, not at the moment. I couldn't afford to get an SSD when I bought my laptop nearly 4 years ago. Next one will though, without a doubt!
Why not put one in while you're reinstalling? Then you have your current HDD for external storage

That's what I am thinking of doing, transfer windows and programs to the SSD

        • Treated ourselves today, lovely coffee. First coffee I've had and enjoyed without sugar.

Can't wait to try some of the Christmas specials. Trip to the regent street store for me this week.

What's the best stuff to use in it? I will use my Citrus Pro for starters.

Be mindful guys to avoid using hard water when mixing the soap solution to go in the foamer. I always advise if you live in a hard water area then get yourself some cheap mineral water from a supermarket to use. This will ensure a much more effect clean.

Did this when I applied my TFR the other day, made a big difference. I only used the basic 20p water, did the job.

That's all that's needed pal. Cheapest smartvalue, extravalue is what you need.

simply transferring the contents of a HDD to an SSD is not straight forward. Il post on this at another point but irrespective of how much info you are moving, if the total size of the HDD is greater than that of the SSD then you will need to use third party progs to 'cut and paste'. Also an SSD will store its data slightly differently so unless it a clean instal of your OS, there is a significant chance the data will not be aligned and read/write speeds will be drastically reduced.

Been reading up on it and defragged it etc but also looking at doing a full install again on the ssd if I can source the windows disk etc.

I'd happily do this to make sure it's done properly. Only really use it for photography and put lightroom and Photoshop back on which is easy enough. Can get a 120gb Sandisk SSD for £40 to.

                        • Create a bootable USB key and download the ISO, it's your product key that's the important bit.

                            Or buy this http://www.ebuyer.com/411722-kingsto...kUMaAt3x8P8HAQ

I use this all the time and saves hours of work. Old HDD out, put into the caddy, new SSD in the laptop, boot from the clone disk, select source disk (Old HDD), select destination disk (SSD), leave for half hour, everythings back to normal just alot faster

                            • I only use Samsung drives now and they come with a cracking piece of migration software, allows you to shrink volumes and/or decide what exactly will be copies over. Having said that I have found a lot of software is hit and miss when it comes to correctly aligning the sectors correctly when moving from HDD to SSD.
