  • New driving licence changes

From January 2015, DVLA will no longer issue the paper counterpart to the photocard driving licence.

    https://www.gov.uk/government/news/d...icence-changes

You can also now check out your driving licence details online (beta)

    https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence

Worthwhile doing this ^^ check to ensure your details on their database are correct.

Just done it myself and it is very straight forward. Just need DL number, NI number and post code.

And they are going to cut the price of the 10 year renewal to £14 from £20 previously Which will leave a few quid to buy a couple more microfibres!

You have a typo - save it, it will be worth collecting as a rarity!
              Should have been "yours" obviously.

                I have a question.

Firstly I just have a standard driving licence. i.e done no bike tests or HGV ones etc etc

on this beta it says I can can drive a moped up to 50cc (max speed 50km/h)

But then it says I can provisionally drive any size motorbike, with or without a sidecar.

Im confused. Just to clarify I am 23 I didn't pass when you could drive anything from the word go

I'm glad to see the end of these. I wonder what will happen in those situations where a counterpart is needed though? Say for example you're renting a car or taking a test drive?
Tom I have the same on my licence (passed late 2011). I can drive a moped up to 50cc if I pass a CBT and I can drive any size motorbike provisionally.

But I thought you can't ride any size bike with the new rules in place for bikes? This is what I don't get

Because of your age you are eligible for "Direct Access" motorcycle training, which can be done on any bike of at least, from memory, 34BHP.

LOL, still on a 'real' driving license here, it may be in bits and pieces but still works, mind you it is over 34 years old!
