  • Halfrauds good and bad?

Bit of a long story but please bear with me.

Dizzy3 had her first MOT today. And guess what... She failed!
    Nothing mechanical.
No it won't be covered under warranty.
The spacing on the number plate!!

Something I wasn't even aware of being a problem. Seeing as I got them from Halfrauds you'd assume everything would be ok.
How have I not been pulled over by the police? I could've been fined and had points on my licence!!
Had I just been plain lucky not to of been pulled over by the police?

Luckily, Car dealers (Budgens, Shrewsbury) printed new plates and I was on my way home.
First stop was Halfrauds Oswestry, and straight away she knew what was wrong with them. I explained I had new ones already and would appreciate refund of cost of new or refund on their incorrect ones (the greater value). She happily refunded cost of their incorrect ones (£35).

The MOT retest is on Tuesday, if it fails for something else I'm scream very very loud...

No points on licence as it happens. And yes, they look incorrectly spaced. In a court of law tho, with that printers code on the bottom, amd a Halfords receipt/ proof/ acceptance of liabilty its not your fault.

Now- I might go there cos they do plates i like... and with the relevant protocols as well (ID numbers on the bottom)

Last time I was pulled for my plates- they said go to Halfords! LOL

Keep those plates- worth their weight in gold :-)

Ed- Think a retest is free within a few days?

I run with illegally spaced plated all the time. Don't really get pulled for them just a dodgy look. They can't give you points for them too.

I've got rid of the plates already seeing as they refunded full cost.
Yeah the retest is free which I'm ok with.
But it took and hour to get from Os to harlescott Shrewsbury due to A5 traffic/roadworks.
I hate being stuck in traffic jams.

I got pulled twice for illegally spaced plates a few years ago within 6 weeks of each other £30 fine, no points, both times. After 2nd time got rid of plates.
