Assistance needed for which DS3 to buy

Hi,

I am intending to buy a used DS3 in the near future.
I have done a bit of research and am leaning towards a 110 diesel 2012 model.

My reasoning is as follows:-

1) Diesel for fuel economy. I understand that the petrol engines can give problems

2) 110 because it has more power than 90 and little difference in fuel economy

3) 110 because it has the 6 speed gearbox, I understand that the 5 speed box can be notchy and troublesome.

4) 110 for the rear disc brakes

5) 2012 because the figures show improved fuel economy and the same performance

Can anybody advise how I tell the difference between a 2011 model and a 2012 model.

I would welcome any thoughts on my reasoning and also anything tips and hints on what to look for when buying one.

The earlier THP 150 have had problems, not all, but some. This is why I went for a Dsport diesel after my 120bhp Dstyle

Both will perform well after a remap, the 90 is a cracking motor. But for off the forecourt power, the 110 is great


3) 110 because it has the 6 speed gearbox, I understand that the 5 speed box can be notchy and troublesome.
Not 100% on this - my previous 5 speed was a petrol. So not as clued up as I could be on 5 speed diesel.

Its worth also comparing the Dstyle - what the 90 would be with the Dsport - the 110

You'll also get a lot more in the way of extras inside the car.

Also check what options are on the DSport, the DSport Plus mostly includes these options. Things like automatic wipers and lights, folding mirrors (City Signature Options Pack). Chrome mirror covers. HiFi upgrade (think this might be part of the City Signature pack but not sure). Leather seats - default for the Plus but an optional extra on the non plus DSport for a 2012 model.

The 2013 and 2014 90 has rear disc brakes, d-style +, not sure about before that.

If you want a cheap DS3 check autotrader! My Dsport+ HDI 110 is on there for £10550 with only 15k miles

Thanks for all the information. I am living in France and so am looking for a LHD model. I like the look of the yellow DS Sport with yellow and black interior but also have seen an Ultra Prestige in black with a black and white leather interior.
I want all the toys, auto wipers & lights, folding mirrors, GPS, etc.

Fortunately I am not in a desperate rush to buy so finding the right car is more important than just buying a cheap one.
