DS 60 years this year

This year will see the celebration of 60 years since the creation of the original DS which after 18 years of secret development as the successor to the Traction Avant. The DS 19 was introduced on the 5 October 1955 at the Paris Motor Show. In the first 15 minutes of the show, 743 orders were taken, and orders for the first day totalled 12,000. Contemporary journalists of the day said the DS pushed the envelope in the ride vs. handling compromise possible in a motor vehicle.

It would be great if this year those on the forum got together to actually celebrate this as the name of the great iconic car carries on in our modern versions and who knows maybe a future icon.

Those that came to the Dealer meet on the 19 October last year will have seen some great examples of the original DS

Great to hear that Joni. Yes the CCC (D section) is celebrating at their annual D rally which is taking place on the 12-14 June at Little Horwood near Milton Keynes. More details can be found here https://www.facebook.com/events/1471478239798633/ I will definitely be there for this

There is also a meeting in Northern France on 6 and 7 June https://www.facebook.com/events/736050146464472/

The official launch date for the D was 5 October which this year falls on a Monday so perhaps we could have a special meet somewhere on Sunday the 4 October as well? Just an idea. Speaking of which the D section is also planning on the 3 to 4 October a dawn to dusk run but no further details as yet, sounds like fun though
