  • Hard Wiring Dash Cam into DS3?

Have tried to search for this but got a list of recent posts instead?
Any hoo, I'm looking to hard wire 2 cameras to record front and rear views in my car.
Currently I run a dash cam only recording front view which is powered by the 12V socket in the front of the car which isn't ideal; has anyone done this before and is willing to share the details or a guide showing how to do it?

This sounds like something Mark A would have done.

I've run my dash cam wire behind the A pillar but it's still plugs in to the 12V by the handbrake, not sure I'd want to hard wire it in personally.

You could always cut the wire to the 12v adapter and run a cable to the connectors underneath the 12v socket.

Alternatively, find a source from the fuse box and power from there?

My solution for the font was to buy a splitter/gang socket. I can now plug in two 12V devices as well as one USB at 1A and one at 2A.

you can buy one of these from Amazon to allow you to wire your dash cam to your fusebox without hard wiring it in. All you need to do is get a hard wire kit when you buy your cam and connect it to this and piggy back the fuse. You will also have to connect the earth to somewhere close on the body work. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Add-A-Circui...ck+fuse+holder
