  • Seems the diesel is not as clean after all

VW sussed it- a little switch inside the ECU that lowers emissions under test

You have to hand it to these car makers

A few more manufacturers up to that sort of trick too I wonder?

Ah well, that free road tax had to end sometime....

Get your wallet out VW, who's next?

With the Yanks discovering it, just hope they have all theirs in order

"Let He without sin cast the first stone" and all that

Ed: Always wondered about that black smoke that pumps out of diesel vehicles- now we know

In Europe NOx pollution has been ignored/minimized since forever. The focus has wrongly been on CO2. I never got that logic of promoting diesels and their hugely more polluting exhaust gasses. With the attention this scandal gets worldwide now, maybe some things are about to change...

            Ah jealous petrol drivers lol

Until the Govt decides to review the emissions testing here in the UK diesel drivers will be fine I think, as FLP said we focus on the wrong emissions here ! I'll continue enjoying 56+mpg and free road tax for now and let VW worry about the massive fines they'll be facing...

Oh damn, I forgot to mention cheaper fuel (ok only at the moment) as well

So the ICCT (a European based organization) should watch their backs?

And in what world is discovering something like this a bad thing that would warrant the "without sin" quote?

And even here most of the pollutants will be addressed by Euro6.

Reminds me of when my dad got bifocals for the first time and he was describing how everything looked bigger when looking down. He said it made visits to the gents "erm.... interesting".
