  • Kenneth Hansen back with a bang - The brand new Citroën DS3 T16 4x4 ERC

1922 Rallycross fans will delight today, not least in the return of the Swedish master himself, but also in the unveiling of perhaps a land mark car.

The 2010 runner-up and multiple champion Kenneth Hansen unveiled his long awaited Citroën DS3 T16 4x4, just days before round 5 of ERC kicks off on Saturday, in the Scandinavian homeland, Holjes.

For fans the news of his return to driving in Rallycross, alone seems a mouth watering prospect. Hansen had announced before the start of the season that he would be taking a break from driving for a few months in order to take up his new role as team manager of KHM. And to good effect. His experience has been notably reflected in two young drivers’ performances and mentalities over the course of part one of the ERC season. Now we see his name back on the entry list, as he returns behind the wheel for his home round launching an exciting new project, the Citroen DS3 rallycross car.

WRC fans would be aware of the cars new found existence, the car is the World Rally Car built for the Citroen World Rally team by Citroen Racing for use for the 2011 World Rally Championship season. The Citroen DS3 is based upon the Citroen DS3 road car, and replaces the highly successful Citroen C4.

Kenneth Hansen Motorsport follows suit and effectively establishes its top flight incorporation into ERC. The team has completed the first test with it’s new Citroën DS3 Supercar with positive success and promising results. There where initial worries by the team that the car would not be able to live up to, (at least in the early stages) the true power and success of the widely used Citroen C4. But at least in the testing stages all looks well and the brand new car is believed to have lived up to all the expectations that Hansen had previously envisioned at its stages as a mere concept. With Hansen behind the wheel it seems all will be revealed this weekend and many sceptics will witness its performance in relation to the other Supercar’s that already grace the European Stage.

Although one thing that we can be sure of is that it certainly doesn’t disappoint when it comes to appearance. The car is as attractive as any of its WRC cousins and looks fierce on track. The livery was designed yet again by Motorsport photographer, Jakub QBA Nitka in co-operation with Kenneth Hansen Motorsport.

The DS3 comes to Holjes this weekend, and its arrival cannot come any sooner!
