This is what I have been worried about, with the increase in sales and hard discounting going on then the roll on effect is going to be low residuals.
The main trade guide CAP is giving the DS3 a right old beating I'm afraid and they use data collected from trade and retail information from the manufacturers as well as auction and fleet data.Last edited by Bigfeet; 09-08-2011, 12:58....I should never have doubted the Lord of Bacon!!

dont like losind £6000 in 18 months after 3 years that would mean it would only be worth £3000 or less .Like my car but if i knew before would not have bought it .As it was meant to be limited thought it would keep its price better. 4.5 years it will be worthless .How much will the cheaper versions be.

Cars don't loose any value in the first year.
What you lose is actually the VAT which is only payable by the first owner, this is the amount which comes off in the first year. Someone mention MINI residuals, the reason for it was the tight controls BMW put in place against their dealers in order to protect the cars value. Many Years ago Audi UK ordered it's dealers to buy everything that came from fleet and at top prices, the results was Audi controlled their own used market and thus caused an increase in residual values as their dribbled used vehicles into the market place.
Citroen dealers, unfortunately for Citroen's Marketing team, are still living the days of the 'cashback kings' where we used to stack 'em high and sell 'em cheap and to hell with the residuals when customers come back. Many dealers took the stand that the customers were also 'throw away' as there were plenty more in the sea.
It's a shame really for the brand, but unless Citroen takes a stand to stop the dealers from flogging the range for peanuts this is going to become the norm for many DS3 owners. And with Citroen wanting to complete at the higher end of the market there are going to have to be some major changes in the way Citroen deals. As my gran once told me "Buy cheap , pay dear".
Sorry for waffling on again.....Last edited by Bigfeet; 10-08-2011, 09:32....I should never have doubted the Lord of Bacon!!
