I always thought Limo tints on cars where for hiding ugly children.......

At the end of the day Police are people and they will only stop you with reason, I have been stopped a couple of times and I've always been polite and not acted like a dick and therefore I was treated the same and on very occasion I was sent on my way with a friendly reminder to sort stuff out.

A good story is from a friend of mine when he was traveling south from Inverness to Perth. He told me that he was 'making progress' down the dual carriageway when the Police patrol car came along side him and all the Police driver did was look across wiggle his finger as if to say 'naughty, naughty' and eased back and then turned off. My friend slowed right down straight away and was embarrassed to have been told off like a schoolboy! Needless to say he drove the rest of the way sticking to the limit!

I got stopped for having a mirror missing on my motorbike. Got given a pink slip to take to a MOT place. When I got there they said - 'Take this slip straight back to the police! There is no legal requirement for motorbikes to even have wing mirrors' I took it back to the cop shop an argued with them for ten minutes before one of the coppers took out a book and was astonished to learn that the mot place was right. They said give us the slip and forget about it.

So I did & forgot about it. Got rid of the bike about a month later anyway.

2 months after that, I got a summons. I was being taken to court for not having the wing mirror fixed, and for failing to produce insurance documentation! I was like WTF!!! They didn't even ask for insurance!

I showed up in court (bearing in mind i was only 19) on my own without representation (to the astonishment of the baliff) and argued my case. I no longer had insurance documents - so right in front of the magistrate I pulled out my phone and called the insurance company and said can you tell this nice lady that i was insured when they pulled me over - and handed the phone to the magistrate.

The magistrate asked 'Why didn't you produce any insurance documents at the time?' 'Because they never flipping requested any!' She also said 'We don't know what to do with you over the wing mirror' I replied 'Yes you do, absolutely nothing. No give me my lisence back and i'll get going' I then turned to the officer who pulled me over (some blonde bint in her 40's) and said 'I'd swat up on motoring laws before i go pulling anyone else over if i were you - you just wasted 6 hours of my life and caused me months of hassle because you don't understand your own area of policing.' She said nothing to that.

Was a fun day out I guess.

It was a reference to my style. I had long pink hair at the time.

It's not a case of seeing into the car. It's all about the available light into the car and road safety. Same as tinted visors on helmets.

You can get window film that stops the window getting smashed. Probably available tinted. Can't see in or break in if they try. Best of both worlds.
