  • electrical problems

Have you noticed that there are a lot of people having small annoying electrical problems that are fixed by turning the car off and back on or disconnecting the battery?

Well don't feel bad. I work on a 30 million dollar helicopter with an advanced avionics package and this type of thing happens so often that we even have a name for the procedure of turning the aircraft off and disconnecting the battery. It's called going cold dark cockpit.
Remember just because it has some problems every now and then doesn't make it a piece o s***

Normally it's case that by 'reseting' the car it clears the fault from the car memory.

Can't imagine doing that in your 30 million dollar helicopter!

Some of the VIP ones sell for 42 mil with options.
Seriously any modern car or helicopter is a very complex machine (as you know Biggie) with all those sensors feeding information to the computers that are all talking to each other it's amazing that there are not more problems.

Presumably only to be performed when on the ground?

So what is it you do with the helicopters?

I always wanted to fly and be a pilot but I would never make the eye sight test...

Well 1st of all you do not need perfect vision to fly in the civilian world but it is awfully expensive to learn.

As to me I am qualified as a flight engineer on U.S. military CH-47D's and as a crew chief on UH-60 A&L model Blackhawks. Mainly what I did was post maintenance test flights. Recently quit that job and now I am just doing maintenance on Sikorsky S-92 VIP and search and rescue helicopters in Saudi Arabia. Must say that I do miss the flying though.
