  • What grinds your gears?

.... aside from poor rev matching

For me: when I'm trying to go to sleep but the neighbours are bonking reeeeeeeeeally loudly on the other side of the wall. Time to stick my iPod on and read my book for a while >:[

Well... Middle laners, text speak in anything other than texts (even then it still p*sses me off), the window cleaner coming to do the windows at 7am (yes really) and Kay F%#Ģing Burley!! That woman is just plain rude, insensitive and needs bringing down a peg or two!!!

      The biggest things for me:

      * Large groups of people walking sloooowwwwllllyyyyy through the city centre, who then stop in front of you and take up the entire pavement. This happens a LOT in Oxford due to the coachloads of visitors we get on a daily basis.
      * People chewing loudly/with their mouths open. URGGHH.

There's probably more but these are the two that stick out. Oh and like Funky said, middle lane drivers.

People who deliberately park in two parking spaces - we all love our cars but that takes the piss

People who undertake and people who don't move over into the outside/middle lane when it's empty and you're trying to enter a motorway/dual carriageway.

People who go at 35mph in a 60 zone, get up to the speed limit!!

People that dont use their indicators, what were they fitted on the car for???

Oh and people that get out of their small old crap cars and hit yours as i learnt yesterday!!

Ouch Ben - I forgot that one, can I add the following:

People who insist on parking next to you when you've deliberately parked on the far side of the car park away from other cars to avoid dings etc
              sigpic

Did you see who damaged your car or was it a car park hit and run?

Soo many already mentioned like parking in the middle of 50 empty spaces and someone still feels the need to park next to you.. That one really does grind my gears.

Also driving along and blatantly seeing people texting on their phone while driving along and swerving all over the place and day dreaming with their face stuck in their phone at traffic lights. GET OF THE F&%KING PHONE!

Also people with no lane discipline, always see people in the wrong lane trying to turn somewhere they shouldn't be and then getting angry and blaming others and trying to race people down the road when they don't get let in.

I accidentally did this to my parents' red Picanto, opened my door but the wind caught it and left a little white smear on their door. Luckily they don't care about car looks, but I'm much more careful around other peoples' cars.

Lots of good ones here. Especially agree with Kat's one about people walking slowly. Here at work, I need to get places quickly and students are blocking the corridors at a crawl pace!

Another non-driving related one is parents who don't keep their kids in check in public, especially in restaurants when they run around the whole place screaming.

As a parent of 2 young kids myself, this annoys me too mate. I'd HATE it if mine did this and I've drilled it into them so that they know that shouldn't do it - and believe me they don't. Some parents just don't see the problem with letting them run riot and it's just plain rude.

One other thing that grinds my gears is (and I realise I'm leaving myself open for abuse here) are people without kids parking in parent and child spaces and also blue badge holders using them too, when there are PLENTY of disabled spaces free! Imagine the reactions I'd get if I used a disabled space with or without having my kids in the car. I know that won't affect most DS3'ers on here. ☺️

I do this ALL the time now. Purposely park far away from the doors of supermarkets to avoid the dings (unless I have any kids with me, then I use any available parent and child spaces). If I'm on my own, I also try and park where there can only be 1 car parked next to me. i.e. an end space.
