To be honest, not heard awful things about the RCZ-R and it's basically the same engine. I hope it's forged though, not just like the DS3R which loved to blow pistons through the turbo. Have seen one on the road with the 2-tone paintjob and it looked alright, little bit chavvy though.
Exactly, why have a 270bhp highly strung 1.6 when you could buy a safe 270bhp 2.0 or bigger
It’s all about emissions these days, all manufacturers are pushing smaller engines with high HP.
The 270hp uses a KO4 based turbo giving it the extra power with uprated forged pistons and rods to strengthen the bottom end.
Also VVT on both cams like in the DS3 performance.

Jamie, does this engine still have issue with carbon build up and if not, how did they engineer it out?
They can't really fix that problem ben. They still need to burn the fumes for emission ratings. Some try to fix the problem with an fuel injector in the inlet manifold bit still the problem exists. They're still not able to fix it in a propper way.
