  • Recall changing remap?

I recently took my 2011 ds3 thp to Citroen to have the recall for the water pump. When I collected it they told me they had to plug it in as part of the recall.

I have had a remap done by Jamie at SP tuning.

My question is could Citroen have reset my remap to standard as the car now feels slower.

Has this happened to anyone? Is it even possible? Was going to ring Citroen tomorrow to ask what they actually did.

    Thanks in advance.

It is very likely that when they plugged it in it was a blanket set of default settings pushed out to your ECU, for your engine and model, which would've included a setting needed for the recall. So in theory, yes, they have probably wiped Jamie's remap. If they did, then they won't put it back for you, as it's obvs not a Citroën configuration. I'm not sure if anyone has had this happen to them in the past, but I do seem to recall it being mentioned on the forum a while ago and I THINK they had to go back to SP Tuning to have it redone.

It's always a worry of mine, that when I finally have mine remapped by Jamie, that any servicing or subsequent work I need to doing on my DS3 in the future, will have the map removed.

Anyone know how to stop garages from doing this - Citroën included?

If they updated the cars software(very likely) then 100% your map was overwritten. It's happened to me before I also have a 2011. Bit of a pain having to take it back to the tuner and get it remapped again but they did it for free. Do not know SP tunings policy on that issue but I am sure they have dealt with it before.

Thanks for replies. Looks like you’re both correct. Sp tuning confirm that if software was updated then it will have been changed, 40 quid for them to redo it which isn’t bad, it’s 153 miles from me though!
Citroen trying to deny it but I’m going to insist they pay. How annoying. I guess in future we need to tell them not to change the map!

Don't know if they have a standard map or save all the maps they do. Anyway, putting it back, won't be much of a hassle.

Putting it back is no problem it’s a 7 hour round trip. Awaiting response to Citroen uk. I think they should pay it, it’s like having your car in for tyres and them giving it back with steels on instead of your alloys. Not really acceptable. The manager of the dealer was not helpful.

That is just not going to happen

Agree with Cyclone. Citroën will not pay for the reconfiguration of the software to your remap. Just get back down to Jamies and if your car ever needs to go back into a garage, I'd check what is involved in the work they are doing, so you can make sure they don't trash it again.

A manufacturer will never pay for your aftermarket parts or software. They didn't make it, why should they pay for it? If the car was in warranty, it would be invalidated by making any changes from manufacturer's spec. Unfortunately, it's either back to SP Tuning, another mapper, or make do with no map.

There indeed is/was Citroen factory call to update ECU software for (some?) THP engines. No details were disclosed. I got it last summer (2017) for my 2011 THP, and they were almost 100% silent about it. Just barely noticed it when I signed the workorder of yearly service. If remapped, then it's definitely byebye.

This latest ECU software seems different to me, we all should know how sensitive this engine is for timing chain length or carbon buildup on intake valves. To me it feels like the latest software is even more sensitive and actually worse. It pushes to advance ignition timing to max, fuel allowing, and more often creating more misfires and stutter than older versions. My car was running perfectly fine before the update; and after - meh. Nothing but the ECU software was changed. Could be coincidence, but ...
